About Evicourse

From designing websites to designing the systems behind them.

I’m an independent digital and systems strategist with nearly two decades of experience working across websites, digital platforms, business processes, and connected technologies.

My work has taken me through smaller organizations, nonprofits, federal contracting environments, and commercial businesses—each with different challenges, resources, and ways of operating.

Those experiences shaped Evicourse: an independent practice focused on improving how businesses use technology, connect systems, and manage digital operations.

The Professional Journey

The work changed as I learned to see the bigger picture.

  1. 01

    Designing Digital Experiences

My early work centered on websites, visual design, content, and usability. I learned how people interact with digital experiences and how design decisions affect their ability to find information and complete tasks.

  2. 02

    Managing Digital Ecosystems

Working across nonprofits, government contracting environments, and commercial organizations expanded my responsibilities into content management systems, website operations, analytics, accessibility, governance, and the processes supporting them.

  3. 03

    Connecting Systems and Processes

As the work became more complex, I increasingly focused on how information moves between platforms, how teams manage digital operations, and where disconnected tools create unnecessary work.

  4. 04

Determining What Needs to Be Built

Today, I combine that experience to evaluate problems, assess existing technology, and decide whether the right response is to improve a process, integrate existing tools, or build a new capability.

The Perspective

Different organizations. Different constraints. The same need for systems that work.

Smaller organizations often need practical solutions that work within limited budgets and resources. Nonprofits balance mission-driven work with operational realities. Federal contracting environments introduce additional expectations around accessibility, documentation, and established processes. Commercial and software-driven environments bring their own demands for performance, coordination, and growth.

Working across these settings taught me that effective technology decisions depend on understanding the organization—not just the available software.

Why Evicourse Exists

A place to put that experience into practice.

Evicourse brings together the disciplines I’ve worked across: web development, user experience, information architecture, analytics, process improvement, and systems design.

I work directly with businesses to understand what’s happening, identify what needs to change, and implement practical improvements. That might mean refining an existing website, connecting applications, automating a workflow, or developing something custom.

The goal isn’t to introduce more technology. It’s to make the technology you depend on work better for your business.

The Person Behind Evicourse

James Lee

Independent Systems Strategist & Builder

I approach my work with curiosity, practical judgment, and a willingness to question whether a proposed solution actually addresses the problem. I enjoy both understanding how a system works and doing the hands-on work required to improve it.
